Alice went on to get a scholarship to college and then she got heavily involved in the Civil Rights Movement. She wrote many short stories, poems, and novels. Her novel, "The Color Purple" won a Pulitzer Prize, was later adopted into a movie by Steven Spielberg, and eventually turned into a musical produced by the queen herself, Oprah.
