I'm a big believer in the power of mentors to help you collapse time frames, see opportunities you never realized existed, help you to think differently, and to become way more successful than you could have by yourself. For this reason, I've invested a lot of time and money to learn from my mentors. Those investments have definitely paid off!
In the spirit of paying it forward, I want to share the three most valuable lessons I've learned from my mentors:
1. Focus on Relationships for Life
For those of you who have heard my story, you know that one man was a very important catalyst to my growth and success in real estate - Robert Helms. He's the host of the Real Estate Guys Radio Show and he's an incredibly successful investor and developer who has done over $1 billion dollars in deals. He has taught me a lot in the 3 1/2 years I've known him. The number one lesson I learned from him was to "build relationships for life."
Most people are very transactional and short-term in their approach -- they just want to get through this one next deal and suck the most out of it possible. When you approach people with a "relationships for life" philosophy, however, you are not just trying to get that person to do one deal with you... you want to work with (and maybe be friends with) that person long term.
Since I received this advice, I have really taken it to heart. I seek to have a life-long relationship with everyone and I seek others to work with who have the same philosophy. People feel that and they know, like, and trust you. The result is wonderful big-hearted teams who are fun to work with and who create great results that are beneficial for all combined.
2. Work with the Best. They won't cost you money. They'll make you money.
Another genius mentor is Beth Clifford. In her 40+ years in real estate, she's worked on all sorts of asset classes -- from building multi-billion dollar semiconductor fabrication facilities to her current work of building a name-brand hotel resort in Belize. A conversation with Beth is like walking in a gold mine. She drops so many nuggets of golden wisdom that you can't help but prosper from it. She's truly amazing.
It was hard to pick the most valuable lesson that I've learned from Beth because they're all so valuable. I picked this particular one: "Work with the Best. They won't cost you money. They'll make you money" in part because it's genius, but also short.
Another piece of wisdom from Beth that was REALLY REALLY great, I spoke about in my Bigger Pockets Interview: the 3 C's. You can check that out here >>> Bigger Pockets Interview with Monick Halm. If you don't want to watch or listen to the whole thing, you can find the conversation about the 3 C's starting at 17:23.
OK, so "work with the best. They won't cost you money, they'll make you money" is SUCH GOOD ADVICE!!! People try to nickel and dime and find the cheapest person to work with and/or try to DIY everything. I know I've been guilty of that in the past - and it's an expensive mistake. And often you'll end up having to seek out the best to fix what the alternatives did in the first place. Just start with the best people you can find... they see things you don't even know are possible and will save/make you money in the end.
3. Tap into the Power of Orgasm to Manifest.
This last piece of advice came from my mentors Ben and Jen Rode, who are business and relationship coaches and are also developers of a 5-star resort in Costa Rica.
This is very unconventional advice, but it's so powerful and true. My husband and I have basically orgasmed our way to over 1000 units.
Orgasm is a place of complete positive energy and non-resistance and desires planted during this state come forth with amazing speed. So how you do it is this: while you are peaking your partner speaks your desires into your ear. If you're self-pleasuring, you can speak it aloud yourself at this point. The point is to use that energy of orgasm as fuel for your desires.
It totally works! And if it doesn't quite work? Well, at least you had an orgasm. No downside to that, eh?

I've gotten so much invaluable wisdom from my mentors, but if you just use these three it will CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!
If you're looking for more life-changing, I invite you to spend the weekend with me, my husband, and my four mentors mentioned above: Robert Helms, Beth Clifford, and Ben & Jen Rode. They are all going to be speakers at our Real Estate Investor Soulmates Retreat in Ambergris Caye, Belize July 19-21.
Going to an intimate retreat in paradise with these geniuses are going to be magical!!! And can I tell you a secret?? Shhh. I planned this retreat in large part to give ME an excuse to hang out with them and soak up more of their wisdom!
There are still some spots left if you'd like to join us too. You can check it out here>>> Real Estate Investor Soulmates Retreat.
